Sliding Scale
Bottle Based Private Pay
I endeavor to provide services to people regardless of economic class, my belief is that a socio-economic standing should not limit one's access to healthcare and other services. Therefore, I offer a sliding scale based off of "The Green Bottle" by Alexis J. Cunningham. For more information on the source of this approach please see her blog here.
The approach is based on the idea of creating a scale based upon an individual's ability to access services. My interpretation of this approach is that you are self reporting, I do not ask for income verification. You will fill out a basic form stating your agreement to the cost of services rendered based on your own attestation of your need. Please remember that I have a limited number of spots for middle and low pay slots, therefore if you take a lower slot when you can afford a higher slot you are taking those slots away from others.
Full Pay: Those individuals who have property, are comfortable in their lives, are able to spend money a bit more frivolously, have savings, etc., are determined to be able to to pay the full cost of services. This person is the one who goes on annual vacations and other trips throughout the year. They have stable employment and own their own home or rent a higher-end property. They own or lease their own car and have no trouble getting their basic needs met. They have access to healthcare and have built a savings account. They may have some debt but it is not overwhelming and they are able to spend money on entertainment and treats without worries, buying new items.
Middle Pay: Those individuals who struggle a bit more with daily expenses, are still able to meet their needs with some stress, have family or friends who they can ask for support, are somewhat comfortable, etc. are determined to be able to pay a slightly discounted rate. This person is the one who may go on an annual vacation or vacation every few years. They have regular employment and may own a home or rent a med-scale property. They own or lease their own car and have some stress about their basic needs. They have access to healthcare and may be building a savings account. They may have some debt and when they shop they tend to thrift or buy secondhand some items to save money.
Low Pay: Those individuals who are consistently struggling to get their needs met, do no have adequate supports, are on government assistance, etc., are determined to pay a significantly discounted rate. This person is the one who cannot afford a vacation. They have unstable employment, live paycheck to paycheck, and have unstable housing or rent lower-scale properties. The do no have reliable access to a vehicle and stress daily about their basic needs. They are on government assistance and do not have any savings. They may have significant debt and rarely buy anything new due to being unable to afford these items.
